Distribution Release: Tails 4.12
-
The Amnesic Incognito Live System (Tails) is a Debian-based live DVD/USB with the goal of providing complete Internet anonymity for the user. The project’s latest release, version 4.12, mostly introduces minor updates and security fixes. “Tails 4.12 is out. This release fixes many security vulnerabilities. You should upgrade as soon as possible. Changes and updates: update Tor Browser to 10.0.2; update Tor to 0.4.4.5; update Linux kernel to 5.8 and update most firmware packages - this should improve the support for newer hardware (graphics, Wi-Fi); add a button to cancel an automated upgrade while downloading. Fixed problems: fix several internationalization issues in Electrum, Tails Installer and Tails Upgrader; anonymize URLs in the technical details provided by WhisperBack. Tails 4.13 is scheduled for November 17.” Tails now also includes tools for managing persistent storage which can save key pieces of data and system configuration. Further information can be found in the distribution’s release announcement and in the changelog. Download: tails-amd64-4.12.iso (1,176MB, signature, torrent, pkglist).
