Development Release: FreeBSD 12.2-RC3
-
The FreeBSD Release Engineering team is on target for the October 27 release of FreeBSD 12.2, with the third (and likely final) release candidate now ready for testing: “The third RC build of the 12.2-RELEASE release cycle is now available. A summary of changes since 12.2-RC2 includes: report what console the boot loader is telling the kernel to use and allow toggling between them; allow slow USB devices to be given more time to return their USB descriptors; allow using zstd and encryption in the loader.” The release notes are also getting populated with the usual information, including the list of software upgrades: “The tcsh(1) utility has been updated to version 6.21.00; the less(1) utility has been updated to version v551; the libbsdxml(3) library has been updated to version 2.2.9; the resolvconf(8) utility has been updated to version 3.9.2; the pcap(3) library has been updated to version 1.9.1; the tcpdump(1) utility has been updated to version 4.9.3…” Here are the quick download links to the “disc1” images for amd64 and i383 architectures: Download links: FreeBSD-12.2-RC3-amd64-disc1.iso (920MB, SHA512), FreeBSD-12.2-RC3-i386-disc1.iso (762MB, SHA512).
